Easter. (The MOST Original Title Ever!)

YOU WILL NEVER GUESS WHAT THIS POST WILL BE ABOUT! Easter was super awesome. When I woke up, I played the Animal Crossing Event that was scheduled for April 4th. After about 30 minutes of that, I went upstairs to say Happy Easter to the rest of my family. I gave Hazel and Doc Easter baskets that I made for them and we all opened our baskets from my Dad’s sister, Auntie Julie.

I got a ton of awesome stuff (including candy). I got a Paint-Your-Own Hanging Planter, a rubber chicken (who doesn’t love those), a crystal growing kit, gummy candies, a hopping bunny, and (big surprise) more candy.

THEN, Mom gave us super awesome candy from a cute candy shop downtown. I got Cookies and Cream Chocolate Bark, Champagne Gummy Bears, Grapefruit Sour Balls, and Candy Pacifiers.

Just for your entertainment (and also for mine), I found some FABULOUS Easter memes. Enjoy!

After we opened our Easter baskets and ate the first 10 pounds of candy, we went downstairs and had a small egg hunt. Hazel and Doc had lots of fun finding the eggs!

Honestly, we spent the rest of the day like it was just another Sunday. We did have REALLY good steak for dinner, though.

I know it wasn’t THAT LONG of an Easter update, but that was pretty much all that happened (apart from the total of 1,000,000,000,000 lbs of sugar that we all consumed). And look on the bright side, we can get to actor of the week sooner!

Our Actor Of The Week is…

Elizabeth Banks!

Elizabeth Banks is SUPER FUNNY. She is a great actress has played fabulous and funny roles in Pitch Perfect 1 and 2, Modern Family, The Hunger Games, and more. You can check out the other stuff she has been in here.

Next on the blogging list:

SNL! I have a few things to show you. First off, one of my FAVORITE SNL Skits. Get ready…

By the way, probably should have mentioned this before you watched it, but if you aren’t a fan of fake blood, steer clear of this video.

I really enjoy Saturday Night Live skits. (You probably could tell, already.) When I was looking for a good skit to add to this post, I found some really interesting videos of how SNL skits are created. I hope you find them as interesting as I did!

Have a good Tuesday!

Happy Birthday, Little Blog!

Welcome to POST #42! OHMYGOSH!!! Did you know that I started my blog one year ago today? What does that mean? Good question. Other good questions include: Why is Doc so freakin’ adorable, is Grace slightly insane, and why do dinosaur chicken nuggets get soggy in the microwave. (Sorry, getting really off track.) Well, dear readers, that means that this is our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLAHBLAHBLOG!

Throughout the year I have kind of been this:

And I have enjoyed every minute of it! Thank you to Doc and Millie for being interesting to blog about, thank you Nana, for editing my posts with me, thank you to Dad for making my blog an actual thing, and thank you to all of my readers. I love all of the comments and emails I get, telling me how much you enjoyed the latest post and thanks for listening to what I have to say. Happy Birthday, BlahBlahBlog!

Technically, I wrote the first draft of post #1 one year ago YESTERDAY, but I published it one year ago today.

(Doc is sleeping right now so I can’t get a video of him singing Happy Birthday, so go to a previous birthday post and replay that video, or just imagine him singing it.)

Have a VUNDABAR DAY (and don’t forget to pick up your goodie bag as you leave the party-post (just kidding)!

Mini Post: Vaccinations!

Guess what!?

I got my vaccination! Since I am officially a teenager, I got the covid vaccine!

Honestly, I feel a bit worn out and my arm is a bit sore. I ended up getting the Pfizer vaccine. There where a bunch of people in the line so it took FOREVER. I just stood there and stood there, and I swear, the line moved up a quarter inch every HALF HOUR!!! When I got to the administering station it took less than a second, and I was done! After that I went home and ate waffles. Everyone knows that life is so much better with waffles.

My arm is pretty sore right now so I am going to wrap up this super mini post, but to all of the people who have yet to get their vaccinations, don’t sweat it. The two day MAXIMUM of soreness that you MIGHT feel isn’t worth a bunch of stress. Just relax and eat waffles.

I am so glad that I got my vaccine. Not gonna lie, it was pretty stressful, but I’m still alive, aren’t I?

Wait, hold on. Just checking. Yep, I am still 100% completely alive! (Scratch that. Probably about 99% alive, currently.)

I have just one more thing to say before I end this post.

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!!!😈😈😈😈😈😈😈

Happy Burfday To Me!

Four days ago, March 28th, was my birthday. I turned 13!

To celebrate, I went downstairs at 7:00 am and played video games until everyone else was awake. About 8:30 am. Animal Crossing New Horizons does mini birthday celebrations for you on your birthday. I played Animal Crossing for a bit and then went into my parent’s bedroom so that I could open a few gifts. Of course, Doc needed to help open my gifts because if he didn’t get to demolish the wrapping paper on at least one gift, he would unleash a scream that would break all of the glass of the houses on the entire block.

I got some pretty cool gifts! I got a Make Your Own Mochi Kit, Make Your Own Fortune Cookie Kit, Make Your Own Bubble Tea Kit, a framed butterfly, a framed bat, a lock picking set, a glass ziploc bag container, a movie and book check-off poster, and a special birthday hug from Doc. I also got some cool enamel pins!

After gifts, we enjoyed a really good brunch of bacon, eggs, and english muffins. While eating, we watched the Netflix movie, Yes Day. (Click on it for the trailer.)

Yes Day was a pretty good movie. I enjoyed watching it and would remind readers that it is a cheesy Netflix movie. Serious cheese factor. But it is still a fun movie to watch!

After the movie, I lazed around a bit while my mom ran errands. I straightened my hair and we hopped in the car to go to a restaurant for my SECOND time of the pandemic!

Just so you know, Doc feel asleep in the car and. It. Was. Adorable.

We ended up going to (it was a complete surprise for me) a REALLY GOOD italian restaurant called Montelupo. I got THE WORLD’S BEST pasta with Bolognese sauce. There was a server named Mike that Doc wanted to be friends with SO BAD. Every single time Mike came over Doc would say

Doc: Hey, uh. Wassyo name?

Mike: Mike.

Doc: Mike, will you please be my best friend?

Then, throughout the dinner, Doc would ask him questions like, what is your favorite animal, will you have a playdate with me, and do you like noodles. After dinner, Doc had a dance party. Right in the middle of the restaurant tent.

Finally, we went home so that I could make birthday milkshakes.

When we got home, my dad went out into the garage and I got out the blender. Haha. Little did I know…

My dad came in with a mint chip ice cream cake and a 1 and 3 candle perched on top. The small rectangle cake was covered in a light blue-green frosting and it had mini ice cream cones and ice cream on top!

It was SO good that I ate a MONSTER-SIZED slice. After the cake we watched a movie called The Professional, which was super cool. Natalie Portman was in it as an 11-year-old. It was so funny seeing her so young after watching movies with her as an adult.

To be honest, that’s pretty much it. After that I went to bed. Exciting, I know.

It is time… The moment you’ve all been waiting for… (or at least have been waiting for while this sentence continues to drone on and on and on and on and on and on and on and-sorry just having fun with you)!

Actor Of The Week!

Michael Pena!

He is SOOOOOOPER funny!

He has been in Ant-Man, Fantasy Land, Tom and Jerry, Dora and The Lost City of Gold, The Martian, and more. Check out what “more” is here.

Here is the trailer for Ant-Man, one of my FAVORITE Marvel movies!

Before I go, check out the wonderful SNL skit of the week. (This is starting to become a regular thing! Good ol’ SNL.)

Enjoy!

PIGEONS (I think I spelled that correctly…)

I have something very odd to talk about. It relates to the title of this blog post. I know, I know. I’m weird. Tell me something I don’t know. Anyway, my friend showed me this fabulous video. It is SUPER random but still entirely fabulous. By the end of the video, you will be humming the tune and singing the song. How ya like me now!

In other news, today is also National Dad Joke Day! To celebrate, I have prepared a few dad jokes that are sure to make you cringe.

What is red and smells like blue paint?
Red Paint.

I used to be addicted to the Hokey Pokey!
Then I turned myself around.

I invented a new word today!
Plagiarism.

And here is a Mom Joke, because Moms are equally as funny as Dads.

Q: Why did the baby strawberry cry?
A: Because it’s Mom was in a jam!

In other news, Happy Spring Break! My agenda is:

Watch TV, play Animal Crossing New Horizons, horse around with Doc, and do absolutely nothing productive.

Spring Break will include Easter this year! We are probably going to have a simple brunch, Easter egg hunt, eat candy until we get sick (that one is mostly Hazel’s job), and watch tv.

Now it’s time for…

That Random SNL Skit That I Want To Show You Guys!

I know, I know, don’t all go crazy at once. If you’ve seen Downton Abbey (I’m looking at you, Mom) then good for you! If you haven’t seen it, I think you should watch the trailer. In my opinion, Downton Abbey Season 1 has a pretty bad trailer. I found a MUCH better trailer for you…

In other news, Happy Almost Easter! I PROMISE to write about all of the cuteness (and sugar rushes) that Doc will have on Easter! He is so excited for it! I love all of the great Easter-themed crafts that you can do with toddlers… Egg Carton Chicks, Pop-Up Bunnies, Drawing on Grace’s wall, and of course, THE OVERSIZED LIST OF HANDPRINT AND FOOTPRINT EASTER CRAFTS.

In more other news, it’s time for… Actor Of The Week!

Heidi Gardner

She is most famous for SNL but she has been in other films including Life of The Party, Otherhood, and SuperMansion. These are all of the other things she’s been in (click this link).

Heidi Gardner is super interesting. Before becoming an SNL star she was a hairdresser. You can find out more about that here.

In more other OTHER news, the final thing on my list to write about is Bubble Tea. one of my FAVORITE Bubble Tea places is Fat Straw. If you don’t know what bubble tea is, it is a tea-based drink (go figure) that started in Taichung, Taiwan in the early 1980s. It can also be a blended version that is first frozen, resulting in a slushy-like drink. The “bubble” part is referring to Tapioca Pearls, also known as Boba, that are mixed into the drink. Sometimes there are popping bubbles, instead. The popping bubbles, unlike boba, pop when you bite down on them. Whereas boba is soft and chewy.

Left: Popping Bubbles Right: Boba

I know that they both look gross but they are seriously good!

This is the link to Fat Straw!

These are some of the order example photos:

My previous favorite flavor of the slushy bubble tea drink was Watermelon with Strawberry Popping Bubbles. I stopped liking the popping bubbles a while ago, so now my favorite boba drink is Taro with Tapioca Pearls (which is the purple drink in the photo above).

I hope you liked this post!

Scream If You Love Refrigerators!

Please don’t actually scream. Thanks. Anyway, we got a new refrigerator and are very happy about it. (I never thought I would actually create a sentence starting with very happy with and ending with refrigerators!) I only wrote about this because I had a dream where I was writing a blog post and I mentioned that we got a new fridge and I had a pretty funny anecdote about refrigerators. Unfortunately, I don’t remember my dream, so the amazing one liner about fridges is gone. At least I tried.

Let’s see… What’s new in my life…Oh! I started riding the Peleton! I have only done it twice so far, but it is a really great way to exercise and still be in a close enough distance to Doc that if he wants to play Captain Hook Pirates, you can politely decline and hear him have a tantrum to end all tantrums! Aren’t 3-year-olds the best!? If you aren’t sure about the Peloton but want to give it a go, and are having some motivation issues, watch this video. Your problems are sure to clear up!

In other news…WandaVision is AMAZING! I am only on episode 6 because Dad, Hazel, and I are the only ones that really like Marvel stuff, but it is SUCH a good show. If you haven’t already seen it, or want to relive the awesomeness of the show, here is the trailer:

On another completely random topic, I got my nails done! I went to my Mom’s favorite manicure place, Polished In Portland. Before I show you my manicure, I want to talk about Polished In Portland. The person who did my manicure, Christi, is SO amazing. She is a lot of fun to talk to and loves the same nerdy stuff that I like. She is so good at what she does and has great attention to detail! These are some of her past works:

And this is her super cool work space! I love the drip wall and her couch is super comfy! She also has a bunch of awesome nail related artwork. She even painted a picture on super long nails and framed it! Her whole space is SO cool!

And finally, my nails! I got them painted as ugly doll faces! (This is an ugly doll, in case you’ve never seen one.)

Now before I head to math class (virtual of course), it’s time for…

Actor Of The Week…

Kate McKinnon!

She has been in so much stuff, including SNL, Yesterday, Ferdinand, Ghostbusters, Finding Dory, and more! Check out her other stuff right here!

Even if you are old, hate animated movies, and/or think that watching children’s movies sends you straight to Hell, Ferdinand is such a cute kid’s movie and is a great choice if you want to get in touch with your inner child. Here is the trailer:

Have a great day!

I found a super cool artist named Edgar Artis. I didn’t spell his last name wrong, his name is Artis (Are-tees), not artist. He makes images of dresses using super cool and unexpected materials or he cuts out a dress shape and holds it out in front of cool scenery! Check out some of his artwork!

Fall Leaves Scenery Dress (cut-out)
Knit Texture Scenery Dress (cut-out)
Fruit Peel Dress

If you ask me, these topics aren’t even close to as GROOVY as the next topic is. The next topic…

druuuuuuuuuuumroooooooooooooooll pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

Dancing! Doc has gone deep into a dance phase and will start to do snazzy dance moves when Hazel plays music from her computer!

Isn’t he suuuuuch a great dancer!?

Also, yesterday was a Portland snow day!!!!!! Doc, Hazel, and I were outside for HOURS just sledding and building snowmen (which we DEFINITELY didn’t fail at AT ALL). This is a picture of Henry (Frosty The Snowman’s nephew) a.k.a. my amazing snowman!

Now it’s time for…Actor Of The Week!

Amy Poehler!

She has been in so many movies and tv shows including Sisters, Parks and Rec, Inside Out, Baby Mama, and one of my all time favorite shows, Saturday Night Live! (you can check out Amy Poehler’s other films here.)

These are some of my favorite SNL (Saturday Night Live) skits:

Have a great day!

P.S. If you are a fan of Mario Kart or basically any of the Mario Bros. games, I think you will find this image SUPER funny. If not, I’m sorry for your loss. (In the Mario games some of the characters have funny and oversized features. One person decided to take those features as somebody hiding something embarrassing underneath…)

Mini Post: THE ULTIMATE POST OF BIRTHDAYNESS

Happy Birthday to everyone who has a birthday today. I know like .00000000000002 percent of people who have birthdays today and tomorrow, so I’m gonna stick with honoring them today.

Happy Birthday Hazel and Doc!

I know Hazel and Doc’s birthdays aren’t on the same day but I thought I could mush your birthday posts together to create the Ultimate Post Of Birthdayness

After the birthday post I am going to show you the decorations we put up for Hazel and Doc’s birthdays!

Happy Birthday Hazel!

Hazel, you are so kind and funny. I can’t believe you are 11 years old today! At 11:02 AM, 11 years ago, you came into this world and lit up out hearts and- Yeah, okay, I don’t like the mushy stuff either. Anywho, I hope you have fun today. Love, Mom and Dad’s Favorite.

(Hehe, just kidding.)

Happy Birthday Doc, My favorite Snorty Patorty (Snore-TEE Pa-TOR-tee)!

Doc, you can’t understand this yet, but today you are three. In your mind, a birthday probably just means cake and that you can do whatever you want, including yell at your sisters, splash half of the bath water at your sisters, kick your sisters, blame stuff on your sisters, and occasionally laugh when you fart. All of these are your favorite things to do. You are smart, funny, VERY SILLY, and most of all, you are a Snorty Patorty. No matter how many times you deny it, you will always snort when you laugh, therefore I’m deeming you a top-notch, first-class, A+ Snorty Patorty.

Onto decorations and (most importantly) cake!

Last night my parents and I hatched a clever plan. (Cue mission impossible music!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCO95esUzBw

All throughout dinner I said how tired I was (keep in mind that Hazel sleeps like a rock and Doc can’t get out of his crib by himself), so by the time that we had watched one episode of a tv show I was pretty much “asleep”. My mom said that I had to go to bed and Hazel reluctantly followed. I did my bedtime routine and got in bed checking to make sure that Hazel’s door was closed before going into my room. I then text mom to tell her I would come down soon and I waited about five minutes before turning off my lights, putting pillows under my blanket to make it look like I was sleeping under the covers…

…and creeping downstairs where my mom and dad were blowing up balloons and had a tv show and the vacuum cleaner on to drown out the noise of the balloon-blower-upper-thingy. My Mom also had someone come to our front yard and add two birthday signs to our lawn. While my Mom and Dad tidied up the house, I baked gluten-free cupcakes into gluten-free ice cream cones to make Hazel’s birthday treat. (I am making Doc’s treat tomorrow.) The house was really warm and all through the night I could hear balloons pop, but thankfully, only about five popped in all and it wasn’t very noticeable. At 6:30 AM the next day, I woke up early to dye frosting and decorate the cupcakes. Doc enjoyed the cupcakes A LOT. Seriously, I think that today going to be in the highlights of 2021 for him. These are the photos of the cupcakes and the balloon arch and decor that we made:

Doc’s Birthday Sign! (We told the sign person that Doc LOVES Halloween and Pirates.)
Hazel’s Birthday Sign (What would any 11 year old girl like? Unicorns, Unicorns, and more Unicorns.)
Doc and Mom eating a cupcake!
The Unicorn cupcake-in-a-cone that I made for hazel!
Me making the balloon arch at about 11:30 PM. I am already half asleep! πŸ™‚
The Balloon Arch in all of it’s Balloon Archy Glory!

I hope you liked today’s post!

-Grace

Happy Birthday!

(…or Happy Burf-day, if you are an almost 3-year-old named Doc who loves celebrating Birthdays because it usually means cake is involved.)

I have to say Happy Birthday to three of the most awesome people in the world.

Nana, Auntie, and Kim!

Auntie! (Shelly) She is my Grandma’s twin sister
Nana! (Carol) She is my Great Aunt’s twin sister
Kim (“Kimmy”) She is nobody’s twin sister

Kim- I am so lucky to have you in my life. You are so generous to my whole family and you are so smart. I love baking, laughing, and hanging out with you. I can’t believe I lucked out to have met you.

Auntie- You have an amazing taste in tv shows. (Like, seriously AMAZING.) And you are so kind and generous with your time.

Nana- You are an amazing editor and I can’t get over how skilled you are at cooking. Seriously guys, her salmon is TO. DIE. FOR.

I’m sorry that this post is belated, but I hope you spent your birthdays doing something you love.

In other news, I have a tv show recommendation. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a fantastic show. It follows a Jewish family in the 1950s as they face challenge after challenge. From comedy to catastrophe, this show is truly fabulous (if you don’t mind a few swear words.)

Speaking of tv shows, I have today’s Actor Of The Week!!!

Tony Shalhoub!

Tony Shalhoub has been in a lot of funny things (including the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, where he plays my favorite character Abe Weissman). He has also been in Galaxy Quest, Wings, Pain and Gain, Cars, and Monk. Check out Tony Shalhoub’s other films here.

Monk is a hysterical show about a VERY germaphobic detective named Adrian Monk. Tony Shalhoub stars as Adrain as he solves case after case.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9hwcsbMKuo

Now, before I go, I want to talk about a hysterical meme that I was reminded of a while ago. A few weeks ago, I was watching Wreck it Ralph Breaks The Internet (trailer here) and at the end of the credits I saw something so insanely funny. It was…actually, think I’ll just let you watch the video.

It is a hysterical and (kind of old) meme called Rick Rolling. This is the definition: Rickrolling, alternatively rick-rolling or Rickroll, is a prank and an Internet meme involving an unexpected appearance of the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song “Never Gonna Give You Up”. The meme is a type of bait and switch using a disguised hyperlink that leads to the music video.

This is the actual music video:

I hope you had fun reading today’s post!

-Grace

P.S. Check out this hysterical image!

Happy (belated) New Year From Portlandia

Happy belated New Year! I have SO MUCH stuff to talk about! I haven’t done a blog post in a while, with all of the holidays and family time, it’s been hard to catch a break. Let’s get started!

First up is New Year! I may or may not have stayed up until about 1:00 AM. If you disapprove of the idea of someone staying up until 1:00 AM, then I most definitely DID NOT stay up. I mean, that would be absurd. If you really don’t care what time I stay up until, then I still did not stay up super late (winkedy-wink-wink). I had some Martinelli (if you aren’t familiar with Martinelli, it is a sparkling apple cider) and I watched a movie until midnight. At that time, Doc had already gone to bed and Mom was doing her bedtime routine (get into pajamas, wash makeup off, go to the bathroom, brush teeth, get in bed, and watch tv or look at phone for an hour before actually going to sleep.) I think on New Year’s she was in the last stage of her routine. We all congratulated each other on kicking 2020 to the curb and finished watching our movie. Throughout the movie we got these two ads that made us crack up every time!

Every year we take photos with funny glasses. Check out all of our funny photos from this year and from past New Year’s starting at 2009-2016. Then it skips a few years until it gets to 2021. (I couldn’t find some of the photos.)

In other news, I got bangs!

I have also been looking at photos of Doc. It amazes me how much Doc has grown!

This is a picture of me and Hazel when we first saw Doc:

This is a photo timeline of Doc… (try not to become TOO obsessed with his cuteness!)

Doc is wearing a wig. He does get haircuts, y’know!

Now, Actor Of The Week!

*pause for dramatic effect

Jennifer Lawrence!

She has been in a bunch of stuff including The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, The Dark Phoenix, Mockingjay, Winter’s Bones, Red Sparrow, Passengers, and many other films. Check out her other stuff here!

You can find the trailer to one of Jennifer Lawrence’s movies, Mockingjay, right here:

I hope you like today’s fun and picture-filled post!

Make sure to subscribe to my blog so you can get emails about new posts! Doc, Hazel, Nana, Auntie, and Kim’s birthdays are coming up (but not in that order)and you don’t want to miss that!

-Grace
